Don Guillermo Acevedo is best known for his
powerful and perceptive detailed drawings of people, especially
the Native Americans of the Southwest. His great sensitivity,
apparent in all his drawings, marks him as a draftsman of
outstanding talent.
Guillermo Acevedo was a master at recording
the human condition. As was described by Betje Howell, then
art critic for the
Los Angeles Herald Examiner, Acevedo is a “virtuoso draftsman…his
imagery, on close study, becomes an illusion, an evanescent
dream where Man endlessly enacts the rituals of his particular
heritage. Perhaps his Inca forebears or his cultural heritage
gives the Peruvian-born artist another dimension in seeing.” His
drawings and paintings have been exhibited locally, nationally,
and internationally.
